Eco-Friendly Car Recycling Technology to the World (Trainees from Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania)

Kaiho Industry is helping to spread eco-friendly technology for recycling used cars in African countries. Since 2023, we have been chosen by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) to provide technical training for their “Skills Training for Employment Program in Africa (STePP).”

This program is structured in two main steps:

STEP 1: Practical hands-on training in Japan.
STEP 2: Follow-up guidance and support in the home country.

This training program aims to spread eco-friendly End-of-Life Vehicle (ELV) recycling technology across Africa. We use the car recycling expertise we have built over many years to train local professionals and help strengthen the industrial foundation in these countries.

◆ 2023: Uganda

In the first year, we welcomed trainees from Uganda. At our factory, we shared practical knowledge on how to properly dismantle cars and reuse parts. Following the training, our staff visited Uganda to provide support for applying and implementing what they learned (STEP 2).

◆ 2024: Kenya

In 2024, we received trainees from Kenya. We instructed them on how to handle ELV processing in an environmentally friendly way by showing them our full recycling process. The local follow-up (STEP 2) is now being rolled out.

The training project in Kenya was also featured on the country’s public broadcaster, KBC.

◆ 2025: Tanzania

Our latest effort is with Tanzania in 2025. The training in Japan has been completed, and Kaiho Sangyo staff will soon visit the country to provide on-site technical support and follow-up.

We will continue to advance this project to contribute to the development of the automotive recycling industry in Africa and the creation of a sustainable society.
